Feasibility study on the possible use of Renewables for the energy supply of drinking water systems, DR Congo
The feasibility of energy supply based on hydropower for the water supply systems of the cities under investigation was analysed in detail. After determination of the required electricity demand of the currently diesel-driven existing systems, the available hydropower potential in the wider surroundings was assessed (field visit with measurement of head and flow, analysis of further available information). Subsequently, the general technical and economical feasibility of hydropower systems for the respective locations were analysed in detail. Based on this information, preliminary designs, rough cost estimates and risk analyses were implemented.
