Skat's recent work includes projects with SDC, GTZ, a Swiss NGO and a Swiss research institute covering topics such as the management of international networks and involvement of decision-makers, communities of practice, and knowledge management in general.

During the months of October 2009 and January 2010, Skat conducted an impact assessment of the Civil Society Index (CSI), Phase 2003 – 2006 from CIVICUS - World Alliance for Citizen Participation. CSI is a participatory needs assessment and action planning tool for civil society around the world, with the aim of creating a knowledge base and momentum for initiatives strengthening civil society.

During the first half of 2010, Skat provided advisory services to the Sphere Handbook revision for the edition 2010. The services included improving the quality of key indicators to show whether the minimum standards in humanitarian work have been attained. The key indicators provide a way of measuring and communicating processes and results of key actions.

The International HIV/AIDS Alliance and its partners in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) looked into the possibility of developing an HIV/AIDS Regional Knowledge Management Centre (KMC). The first activity for developing the Centre was an Audit that was meant to investigate how the knowledge system on HIV/AIDS works in the region. Skat was the organisation selected to implement the Audit during the months of August and September 2007.

On behalf of the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), Skat has taken the lead for writing the book “Work the Net”, a hands-on guide for practitioners giving advice for setting up, managing and facilitating formal and controllable networks in an efficient and effective way. The guide focuses on operational issues of networks and explains the most important aspects making networks work.
