Skat's ongoing activities comprise projects with SDC, Helvetas, Swiss Red Cross, UNEP, and Swiss Tropical Institute with focus on climate change & cleaner production, sustainable building technologies and materials, assessment of the sustainability of building practices, and post-disaster reconstruction.

Slum-upgrading in Serbia
Implementation: 2008 - 2009

Mandated by HEKS, Skat supports a local NGO in implementing a SDC funded Slum-Upgrading Project in the Serbian Province of Vojvodina. Skat provides methodological and technical expertise in the design and management of dweller driven low budget construction.

Sustainable Reconstruction Initiative in Tsunami affected villages of Karaikal, Pondicherry, India
Implementation: 2005-2008

The Swiss Red Cross and Swiss Solidarity, in collaboration with the lndian NGO Development Alternatives, took the initiative to reconstruct permanent houses in the Karaikal region, Pondicherry state. Skat has the mandate of conceptual and technical backstopping.

Study to optimise Lime and Brick Production in Yemen
Implementation: 2007

Skat carried out a study on optimising lime production in Shibam and brick production in Zabid (Yemen) for GTZ. This study also included a proposal on how to introduce an environmentally sustainable and fuel efficient technology.
